Libraries for Everyone: Exploring Assistive Technology

    Libraries offer valuable information and resources to all individuals, including those with disabilities. Among their collections, libraries provide access to assistive technology devices and specialized programs designed to support the needs of these individuals. Examples of technology for public computers include: 

  • Screen readers/magnifiers software 
  • Text-to-speech tools (TTS)
  • Assistive hearing devices
  • Touchpad or trackball controllers
  • On-screen keyboard
Examples of technology for other services and materials include:
  • Teletypewriter
  • Large print books
  • Closed Caption
  • Magnifiers
  • Audiobooks
  • Kurzweil Readers
  • Braille equipment
